What is a WYSIWYG?

There are many terms that are running rampant with little or no explanation. The Diva knows how you feel and is happy to give a crash course in what it all means. Below is a glossary of several terms that will be helpful in building your website. It is always better to get a basic knowledge before trying to build your site or hiring a professional.

WYSIWYG- Pronounced WIZZYWIG. This is an html editor that allows entrepreneurs and others with no coding experience to build a website, make changes or create a blog. WYSIWYG is an acronym for What You See Is What You Get. Once you type in your blog or your web page it will be the way you typed it. You do not need to know html in order to use it, the back end editor will put the code in for you.

Blog- A blog is an online one or two sided conversation that allows the writers to communicate with readers on specific topics in order to generate business or create a community. The readers may or may not be allowed t comment by typing in messages and leaving links.

Forum- A forum is the place where people create questions or topics and others are allowed to comment and answer. It is very common for software packages to have online forums. The forum may discuss a bug or glitch in the software and the other users can comment and leave their experiences in hopes of ranting and possibly helping others.

Search Engine Spiders- We all know that Google, Yahoo, MSN , Ask  and many others are the best way to get around the web if you need help getting to where you want to go. The SES are crawling websites and web pages to bring you the most accurate information for each search. Pages that are search engine friendly make it obvious to the SES that a certain page is associated with a certain topic. The more SES the more traffic, the more traffic the better.

Each week The Diva will add to the glossary and hopefully expand your interest in using the web.
